To you

Who are about to read this blog

You are her child—the child of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
And because you are her child, you call her “Mama.”

“Mama” is a pet name for “mother.” It means that one
who loves you most, who watches over you always. It
means the one you love with all your heart.

The one who gave you to her is God . . . While he was
hanging on the cross, He said to her: “Behold Thy Son.”
And He said to you: “Behold thy Mother.”

From then on, you were hers, and she was yours.

The great gift that God gave to the Philippines is that
we know this!

And so you call her “Mama.”

Dear Mama Mary and Pope Francis,

I would like to thank you in your service to the Catholic Church, and to the Jesuit community. Thank you Pope Francis for reaching out to the masses through your modern ways of preaching. Thank you Mama Mary for helping him in his journey.  Mama Mary, I would just like to know what it was like to raise Jesus. Pope Francis, I would just like to know how hard your journey to being Pope was.

Thank you,

Rafael Bernardino, Age: 13. Ateneo de Manila University
